Not Grudgingly Given
Sunday Nov 07, 2021
Sunday Nov 07, 2021
Sometimes we get a little tripped up with this word “saint” and even get uncomfortable with being called one ourselves and seeing the idea that a saint is something we should live up to. Some believe being a saint means being holier than others, someone to be revered or honored or great. But in reality a saint is nothing more than a person who allowed their lives to be melted down and used as currency in God’s economy of mercy, service and justice in the world. Listen as Pastor Rob talks about saints on earth and how what you do today can make a difference tomorrow.

According To What One Has
Sunday Oct 31, 2021
Sunday Oct 31, 2021
Paul wrote 2 Corinthians chapters 8 and 9. He heard something that was very concerning, the Corinthians no longer had a desire to give to the poor in Jerusalem. Maybe times were tight and they didn’t feel they could afford to keep giving. Maybe they questioned whether the poor in Jerusalem were really all that poor. Perhaps they could do something to better their situation and weren’t. For whatever reason they stopped giving. Listen to Pastor Rob as he explains how Paul instructed us to give "according to what one has."

This Grace of Giving
Sunday Oct 24, 2021
Sunday Oct 24, 2021
In Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians, he spends the most amount of all of his letters, two whole chapters(!), to address the offering because many in the church have grown weary with the focus on money in church. They’ve started coming with their hands on the wallets and they’re getting tired of it. Join Pastor Rob as he talks about the grace of giving at church.

Audience of One
Sunday Oct 17, 2021
Sunday Oct 17, 2021
Worship is an expression of our love for God made public. Worship is the outward expression of the inward beliefs and emotions that we have about the character and nature of God. At its core, worship is a response. It’s not an expression of our desperation. It’s not because we want something from God. It’s not because we need something from God. Join Pastor Jevon as he invites you to worship for an audience of one.

Sunday Oct 10, 2021
Sunday Oct 10, 2021
What if we tried building the kingdom that was a community with no more pain. No more crying. No more tears. Isn’t that what we’ve been taught to pray.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy (your, not mine, not my parents, not my circle ) your kingdom come, thy will be done (your vision) on earth just as it in heaven. Listen as Pastor Jevon guides us to know whose Kingdom we should be building.

Tuesday Oct 05, 2021

Wednesday Sep 29, 2021
Wednesday Sep 29, 2021
How could people who act in the name of Christ believe horrible actions represent Jesus? What Jesus had they come to know and believe in? Of course, there are many examples we could name through history of what happens when the church gets it wrong. Let's talk about when the church gets it right...

Understanding His-story
Sunday Sep 19, 2021
Sunday Sep 19, 2021
The Bible is the story of Salvation History, in which history should have a hyphen (His-Story), meaning it is God’s story. If the first step of faith is to understand how our story is a part of God’s story, then the next step is to understand our spiritual history, or His-story. So today we continue our STEPS series as we think about the importance of the Bible in our spiritual journeys.

What‘s Your Story
Sunday Sep 12, 2021
Sunday Sep 12, 2021
This morning we begin a series that is important not only St. Luke’s present but St. Luke’s future. We are introducing a curriculum that will be like an entry point to the discipleship process of our congregation. If the purpose of the church is to make disciples, then what does a disciple look like, and what is our process for nurturing someone in their development?

Turning the World Right-Side Up
Sunday Sep 05, 2021
Sunday Sep 05, 2021
Over these past three weeks, hearing Pastor Rob talk about being the role the church needs to play I thought of a series of movies that started 1996. I think they are on movie number 6 now and plan to two more. But if you seen one then you’ve seen them all. Tom Cruise plays the lead role and he’s part of a secret organization that dismantles plots to take over the world. Just about every movie starts off with him receiving an impossible mission. Join us as Pastor Jevon tells us how to overcome this impossible mission we face in life today as we become the Church God calls us to be.

A Church That Welcomes Challenge
Sunday Aug 29, 2021
Sunday Aug 29, 2021
This series on The Church the World Needs seems to have hit home for many of you. Over the last couple weeks I’ve gotten a number of emails and texts saying the issues we’ve addressed are right on target for the call of the church at this time. We’ve considered how the church at its best is accommodating and welcoming of all and seeks to reduce conflict rather than create it. Well, today, at the risk of contradicting what I’ve said so far, I want us to think about how our world also needs a church that creates disturbance and is not always tolerant.

Sunday Aug 22, 2021

What does it mean to be the church in times like this? How do we foster basic Christian values like grace, compassion and understanding in one of the most divisive, uncivil periods in our nation’s history? Join Pastor Rob Fuquay as he helps us understand that a model of civility is how St. Luke's and the people of St. Luke's can be the Church the world needs.

A Church Where Everyone Belongs
Tuesday Aug 17, 2021
Tuesday Aug 17, 2021
We begin a series today called The Church the World Needs. Certainly the world desperately needs a church that draws people in and helps them experience the acceptance of God. Yet for many that is not their experience of church. Listen as Pastor Rob dives into how St. Luke's and the people of St. Luke's are the Church the world needs.

This Is What I've Been Waiting For
Wednesday Aug 11, 2021
Wednesday Aug 11, 2021
This is the moment he's been waiting for.. we’ve spent 5 weeks looking at the life of Joseph and it all started with a dream. A dream that saw his brothers working out in the fields and their bundles of wheat bowing down to his bundle of wheat. In his second dream, he saw the son moon and the stars bowing down to him. And it seems so far off because there was nothing about his current life that gave any indication that this was a possibility. Until now. Until today.

Finding Joy
Sunday Aug 01, 2021
Sunday Aug 01, 2021
Welcome back to Week 5 of the Connecting the Dots series. We’ve spent the last several weeks in the book of Genesis learning from the life of Joseph. And during this series, you know, it hasn’t always been the most uplifting story. We’ve seen Joseph go through some stuff. He’s been thrown into a pit by his brothers, been betrayed by the important people in his life, put in jail, been forgotten about by people he helped, he’s watched every dream he’s had be put on the backburner, just waiting for something to go right.
And finally, FINALLY, we’re here. It's JOY.

I'm A Survivor
Sunday Jul 11, 2021
Sunday Jul 11, 2021
Joseph reminds us that you can survive those moments that can always understand. This week, Jevon shares three key points to get through some of our roughest moments in life:
1. You can survive even what you can’t always understand.
2. Everything can’t grow everywhere.
3. Sometimes God protects others from us.

The reason why there are so many dots we can't connect is because we are trying to make sense out of our lives with our heads and not our hearts. When We Want to Get Even
Monday Jun 28, 2021
Monday Jun 28, 2021
Choose to believe people who hurt us don’t know better. No healthy person is born to hurt. Typically when people cheat or act selfishly or thoughtlessly toward others its because of their insecurity or fear or lack of receiving compassion themselves. Most of them time when we hurt others its because we’ve been hurt. Hurting people hurt people.
